Zoom in style in a sci-fi ship decimating coronavirus particles

It’s been over a few weeks now that many of us have been forced to use Zoom to communicate. Meanwhile, really creative backgrounds for the Zoomers have appeared. There are a lot of options right now, and a lot of people are getting into the game. But yesterday Mike Winkelmann, also known as Beeple, has given up on what might be the coolest (at least IMHO) so far.

Now, instead of a random photo of an island getaway, you can sit in the 3D rendering of a super futuristic handcrafted cockpit traveling through the micro-space. On either side of you are laser cannons that will decimate the coronavirus particles as you cross your group in the morning. There are so many incredible details in this animated scene that you never really feel like you’ve finished.

You can free download the MOV file that Winkelmann shared here, and here you can learn how to change the background in Zoom using the “virtual background” option in the application settings. If you want to read or see more of Beeple, we interviewed him a few months ago and of course you can check out his website!
