Where is the option to hide and show the menu bar in macOS Big Sur? This may be the case if you try to edit this option and could not find it in the place where it was available in previous versions os macOS.
Before the MacOS Bug Sur, the option to automatically show and hide the menu bar was available under the System Preferences> General section. In Big Sur, Apple has now moved it under the System Preferences> Dock & Menu Bar section. Follow the steps below to change the menu bar settings.
What is the option “hide and show the menu bar automatically”?
Do you know what will happen if you enable this option? If you enable this option from the system preferences, you can see the full screen without the menu bar at the top. If you need to work on a menu bar while working on something else, take your cursor at the top of the screen, then the menu bar will appear again. Either way, you may like the full screen without the menu bar or you may always want to see the menu bar on the screen. You can change this option and here is how you can do it.
How to turn on the “Hide and show menu bar automatically” macOS Big Sur
- Click MacOS Big Sur 11 on the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Click on the system preference option in the menu.
- Now select the “Dock & Menu Bar” option to see all the related settings.
- Here on the right you can see the menu bar section at the bottom. Just turn on “Hide and show the menu bar automatically”, and changes will be reflected immediately. Move your mouse to the top corner and you will see the menu bar again.
If you want to prevent the menu bar from disappearing or always want to show the menu bar, then follow the above steps from 1 to 3 and turn the option to always see the menu bar on the screen.
