Top 3 Ways to Move Contacts from Samsung Account to Google

Most of the Samsung smartphone users tend to save their contacts in Samsung Cloud. However, when they have to use a new phone, they wonder how to transfer contacts from Samsung Cloud. Since the Google Account works with Android phones and iPhones, you can register a copy of it as well. Method 1: How to move contacts from Samsung account to Google account on the same phone

If you want to move the contacts saved in Samsung Cloud to the added Google account on your phone, the following steps will help you. First, you need to create a VCF file and then import it to your phone.

Note: Add the Google account to your Android phone first before proceeding with the method.

Step 1: Launch the Samsung Contacts app on your Samsung phone. Tap the three-bar icon at the top to open the sidebar.

2nd step: Tap the Account Picker button which may display All Contacts, Phone, or Google. Select the Samsung account from the menu. This will only show Samsung Cloud contacts in the app.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the Home screen of the Contacts application. Now touch and hold any of the contacts to select it. Once selected, tap the selection box next to All. This will select all of your Samsung contacts. Click the Share button.

Step 4: A contacts.vcf file is created. You must save it on your device. If you see the Save option, tap it. Or, hit Gmail and send the VCF file to yourself. You can even save it to Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. Basically, you have to save it somewhere so you can access it later.

Step 5: Download the contacts.vcf file to your phone if you emailed it to yourself or saved it to cloud storage like Google Drive.

Step 1: Open the Samsung Contacts app again. Tap the three bar icon at the top. Select Manage contacts.

2nd step: Tap Import or export contacts. Tap Import on the next screen.

Step 3: Select Internal storage. You will see all VCF files on your phone’s internal memory. Select the one you downloaded in step 5 above and tap Done.

Step 4: You will be asked to choose the account where you want to store the contacts. Select the Google account and tap Import.

A confirmation message will be displayed when the contacts are successfully imported to your Google Account.

To check, open contacts.google.com from a PC. You will see your Samsung contacts appear in the Google account. You can also open the Samsung Contacts app and open the sidebar. Tap the account selector at the top. Select the Google account. You should also see Samsung contacts.

How to Save New Contacts from Samsung Phone to Google Account

Now that your existing contacts have been moved to the Google Account, you need to make the Google Account your default storage location for new contacts. So, every time you add a new contact, it will be automatically saved in Google account instead of Samsung.

To use Google Contacts instead of Samsung, launch the Samsung Contacts app and open the sidebar.

Tap Manage contacts. Tap Default storage location and select your Google account.

Also go back and select Sync contacts. Activate the toggle next to your Google account.

Note: You can also turn on contact sync for the Google account from Phone settings> Accounts & backup> Accounts. Tap your Google account. Tap Sync Account. Turn on the toggle next to Contacts.

Method 2: How to move contacts from Samsung account to Google account on new phone

The following method will help you if you want to use contacts saved in Samsung Cloud on other Android phone.

Basically follow the steps mentioned in the above method. Once the contacts are synced with the Google Account, they will automatically appear in your new phone with the same Google Account. This is the advantage of using Google Contacts. Contacts remain synchronized on all connected devices.

If the contacts do not appear for some reason, you can manually import your Samsung contacts. For that, create a VCF file for your Samsung contacts as shown in method 1. Save it on such media so that it can be easily accessed from the new device.

On your new Android phone, open the Google Contacts app. Tap the three bar icon at the top. On, select Settings.

Choose Import and select the VCF file. Choose the VCF file you created for Samsung contacts. The contacts will be successfully added to your Google account. You can also import VCF file from web version of Google Contacts i.e. contacts.google.com.

In the above methods, we have selected the contacts saved in Samsung Cloud. If you want to move all the contacts saved on your Samsung phone, you will need to use the Export option.

Here are the steps:

Step 3: You will see that the number of contacts to save must have increased. This is because now all contacts are selected. Tap Internal storage to save the contacts.vcf file. Press the Export button to begin the process.

Step 4: Once the VCF file is created, you need to import it into the Google account. You can do this from the same phone or from another phone. The steps for this are the same as mentioned in methods 1 and 2.
