We have tested the security advisories of the Airtag and today we are going to show you what happens if someone wants follow you with an Airtag without your permission.
One of the most controversial issues raised by Airtag it is related to the issue of privacy. The device is so small that anyone could drop it in our bag, backpack, car … to track your every move. This is a reality to which Manzana He has wanted to put up barriers with notices that alert the person who is wearing it without consent.
Manzana implemented some functions in the Airtag to prevent them from being used for spying to the people. We, as always, have put them to the test to see what happens and what options the small product of Manzana to avoid that tracking.
If someone wants to spy on you with an Airtag, this is what happens:
After spending some time without contacting the Airtag with the person who synced it on your iPhone, a notification like this will appear:
As you can see, it informs us that we carry with us a Airtag that is not ours and gives us the possibility to deactivate it and stop sharing its location. By pressing on “Continue” This menu will appear:
It draws us a map in which it marks the routes that we have made with the device above and below, some options with which we can manage what we want to do with it.
We can reproduce a sound to know where it is and to be able to pick it up. It also offers us the possibility of pausing the security notices so that, in the event that we know that we have a Airtag with our permission, to be able to prevent you from constantly notifying us that we have that device with us. But if not, below we can choose between two options that will give away the owner of the Airtag and instructions to disable it.
In the «Search» app we can see the Airtag or objects that we carry with us without our permission:
Entering the app “Look for”, within the menu “Objects”, it will show us an option called “Objects detected with me” that will give us away all the devices that we carry with us and that are not our property. They may be Airtag or other devices that may be “Traceable” and compatible with this Apple feature.
By clicking on this option, we will access a menu in which a map will appear in which we will see where that device is located. In addition, some options will appear with which we can manage what to do with it.
Without a doubt we cannot complain about all the means that it puts Manzana at our disposal, to avoid non-consensual tracking, above all, using your Airtag.
