Name the asana in which the waist and arms look like a cobra?

The asana in which the waist and arms look like a cobra is called Bhujangasana. It is commonly known as Cobra Pose. In this pose, you lie on your stomach and then lift your chest and head upward while keeping the lower part of your body on the ground, mimicking the raised hood of a cobra.

How to Perform Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose):

  1. Lie on Your Stomach: Begin by lying face down on the floor with your legs extended straight back and the tops of your feet resting on the ground.
  2. Position Your Hands: Place your hands flat on the ground directly under your shoulders, keeping your elbows close to your body.
  3. Inhale and Lift: Slowly inhale and begin to lift your chest off the ground, using the strength of your back muscles rather than pushing with your hands. Your arms should only assist gently in the lift.
  4. Raise Up: Continue to lift your chest and head upward, arching your back. Your elbows should remain slightly bent, and your shoulders should be relaxed and away from your ears.
  5. Look Upward: Tilt your head slightly back and gaze upwards if it feels comfortable, or look straight ahead.
  6. Hold the Pose: Hold this position for a few breaths, ensuring that your lower body remains grounded.
  7. Release: To come out of the pose, exhale and slowly lower your chest back to the ground, resting your forehead on the floor.

Bhujangasana helps to strengthen the spine, stretch the chest and lungs, shoulders, and abdomen, and improve flexibility. It also stimulates the abdominal organs and can help relieve stress and fatigue.
