Sticky Notes has been part of the Windows operating system for years. It is a useful utility that allows you to pin quick thoughts and notes to the desktop. In 2018, Microsoft provided the essential makeover to Sticky Notes with synchronization capabilities, an attachment and a complete overhaul. At the same time, the company has ensured that users access Sticky Notes on competing operating systems, including Android, iOS and Mac.
The added sync feature is useless if you can’t access or create sticky notes on Android, iOS, or the web. To counter the problem, Microsoft has made Sticky Notes available on iOS and Android via other applications and on Mac using the Outlook platform. The company is also leveraging the Microsoft Launcher app on Android for deep Stick Notes integration.
In this article, we are going to talk about how to access sticky notes on Mac, iOS and Android. It’s not as simple as downloading the app from the App Store or the Play Store. Let’s start.
Use sticky notes on Mac
From the Outlook application
Apple provides a capable alternative called Stickies on macOS. But it is basic, has no synchronization and is only available on Mac. There is no way to access it on other platforms. Enter Sticky Notes.
There are two ways to use sticky notes on Mac. Microsoft uses the Outlook application for the integration of Sticky Notes. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Mac App Store and download the Outlook Email app.
2nd step: Open Outlook Mail and sign in using the Microsoft account credentials.
Step 3: When the connection is successful, access the lower menu bar.
Step 4: Here you will see mail, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes.
Step 5: Tap the notes icon and it will open the sticky notes menu in the app.
Click on the notes to view or modify them. To create a new note, go to File> New note or use the keyboard shortcut “Command + N” to compose a note. Add a title and content to it and press the Command + S shortcut to save the note. You can view and organize notes by date.
Use Outlook Web
In recent years, Microsoft has dramatically improved the web functionality of Outlook. From one place, you can access major Microsoft services like Mail, Calendar, To-do, Contacts, Skype, and more.
As it is reliable on the Web, the trick also allows you to access Sticky Notes on Chrome OS and Linux. Follow the steps below to access the sticky notes on the Outlook web.
Step 1: Open any web browser and go to Outlook.com.
2nd step: Log in using the Microsoft account credentials and you will be taken to the default email page.
Step 3: In Outlook Mail, go to Folders> Notes.
Step 4: Here you will see the list of sticky notes.
Step 5: Tap notes to add content, change color, or even delete it.
Step 6: To create a new note, go to the upper left corner and select the “New note” option.
Using Sticky Notes on the Outlook web is a much better experience than the standard Outlook application in the Mac Store.
Use sticky notes on iPhone
Here’s where it gets confusing. Unlike the desktop, you can’t access sticky notes from the Outlook app on the iPhone. Instead, the company integrated Sticky Notes with the OneNote mobile app.
Step 1: Download the OneNote app from the App Store.
2nd step: Sign in with a Microsoft account and sync notebooks.
Step 3: Here you will see the separate Notes section at the bottom.
Step 4: Select it and you will see here all the sticky notes.
Users can create new notes, change colors, format notes using default editing options, etc.
Get sticky notes on Android
There are two ways to use sticky notes on the Android operating system. You can use the OneNote app or opt for the Microsoft launcher to access Sticky Notes on Android. Speaking of Microsoft Launcher, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Play Store and download the Microsoft Launcher app.
2nd step: Set the default launcher on Android from the device settings.
Step 3: Swipe left on the Microsoft launcher, and sign in using the Microsoft account credentials.
Step 4: Go to the Quick Look tab, and here you will see the Notes widget in the menu.
The Notes widget will sync notes from the Sticky Notes app. You can create and modify existing notes from the same widget.
You can also use the OneNote Android app to get sticky notes on the Android operating system. The steps for this one are identical to its iOS counterpart.
Use sticky notes everywhere
As you can see in the steps above, a user can access Sticky Notes on all platforms, including Mac, Android, iOS and Web. It is useful for those who live in a multiplatform ecosystem. I mainly use it to take quick notes on my iPhone and Windows laptop. And you? Ring in the comments section below.
